An A-Maize-ing Fact!

Like many, many other Ancient Civiliztions like the Incas, and the Mayas, the Aztecs loved corn. It's original name, Maize, was the most important staple of cuisine in the Aztec diet. It is amazing to know how many maize products they created and/or ate. Then they also worshiped the crop! No wonder they were also called "mealies" because they were used for most meals, like a tortilla, a flat pancake made of maize flour, tamale, or any other corn product that starts with a "T". The food is sooo sacred it is actually is a religious symbol for the indigenous peoples! That does make sense because corn was an easy crop to grow and it is delicious to eat.

Are You A Chocoholic? If so, You're An Aztec.

One thing you need to know, is that Aztecs love chocolate. Like lot's of ancient civilization's Chocolate, named Cocoa, was a rare delicacy, really a meal fit for a king, maybe even 14 kings! This was something poor Mayas had dreamed for, but the Aztec Warriors were awarded this for nobility and service. Although it wasn't worshiped like maize, but there was a chocolate god , it was still was very loved. Plus, the cocoa was actually a drink, not a bar, egg, cup, bunny, or a finger, the Aztecs only used chocolate for a delicious drink. But if you did get the chance to have chocolate and you weren't royalty/soldier that was a memory that you took to the grave, and beyond.
