The Mayan Ball Game

      This is a deadly game the Mayan played. was to pass a ball around without letting it touch your hands and make it through a ring. When a player manage to get the ball through the ring, that usually ended the game.
       The winners of this game were treated like heroes and were given a great feast. The penalty for the losers were sometimes a harsh death. The leader of the losing team was sometimes killed.  
        This game is like the sport we played today in some ways.
  • This game is like soccer because you cant touch the ball with your hands.
  • This game attracted a large number of people to watch.
  • Its like basketball because you had to make the ball through a hoop.

     Chichén Itzái Ball Court

In all the Mayan cities there was a ball court but the largest ball court found was in Chichén Itzái, it is well preserved. Its dimensions are 480 by 120 feet. The ring is positioned 20 feet above the ground. You could only touch the ball with your knees, elbows, or hips. The scoring was difficult. The ball they used was about the size of a football, it was about 12 pound
